There are many centres throughout Australia that provide meditation instruction and practice groups. It is important to recognise that meditation can be understood using the metaphor of a bowl of fruit. That is, meditation refers to a range of different varieties. There are bananas and oranges, and each taste different. Similarly, there are a variety of different meditation practices, and each can emphasise different elements. Mindfulness is a particular practice while in the family of meditation practices, it emphasises unique and distinct elements and can be seen as tasting different to other meditation practices. It is uniquely different from visualisation techniques and relaxation techniques. It is also different to concentration techniques.
